A Better Stack alternative for teams who want one bill

Better Stack's pricing checked . Prices move — tell us if this is out of date and we'll fix it.

Better Stack is the most polished product in this category. Good design, fast, and the uptime piece sits next to logs and on-call. If you want one vendor for observability and incident response, it is a strong choice.

What Better Stack does better

Unlimited phone calls and SMS are included. Every plan bundles unlimited voice and SMS alerts. We do not do voice calls at all, and that is a real gap — if waking someone with a phone call is part of your escalation policy, Better Stack covers it and we do not.

It is a wider platform. Log management, error tracking and session replay live alongside monitoring. If you want those in one place, that is genuinely simpler than assembling it.

Incident management is more developed. Proper on-call schedules, rotations and escalation policies as a first-class product.

Where we differ

On-call is a separate product with per-seat pricing. The Responder role is $34/month per person on monthly billing, on top of monitoring. A five-person rota is $170/month before you have monitored anything. Our escalation, acknowledgement and paging are part of the plan — ten members on Pro at €19/month, fifty on Business at €79/month, no per-seat charge.

Monitoring is metered. Ten monitors are included, and each additional block of 50 is $25/month monthly or $21/month yearly. Predictable, but it grows per block. Ours is a flat plan: 50 monitors at €19, 250 at €79.

We check things they do not. Game servers over their own protocols, Discord bot presence through a real gateway connection, and mail blocklists. Better Stack covers HTTP, keyword, TCP/UDP, the mail protocols and TLS — broad, but not these.

And the alerting proof: an outbox before every send with a ~50-minute retry ladder, a weekly test event through every configured channel with the failures named, and /api/health answering 503 when the checker itself stops so an outside watchdog can page you.

Which one to pick

Better Stack if you want logs and monitoring under one roof, or if phone-call escalation is non-negotiable. Those are good reasons and we cannot match either.

Uplance if the per-seat on-call pricing is what is actually driving your bill, or if you need the protocol coverage. A five-person rota plus 50 monitors is a very different number between the two.

Try it against your own services.

10 monitors, 30 days of history, no credit card. The alerting proof is on the free plan too — that is the part you cannot evaluate from a feature table.
